Sam Allardyce has used Everton’s two week break from competitive football to embark on a trip to Dubai where his side have been training during the last few days. However, the supporters clad in blue propping up our bar in the tavern who have not been treated to such a glamorous retreat turned their attention to Chelsea’s clash with Barcelona last night.
The Toffees have already played Chelsea twice this season in the Premier League so there was no need for the supporters to do any pre-match homework on the West-London outfit, but that didn’t prevent them from taking a keen interest in one of the standout players of the evening, namely the Brazilian winger Willian (valued at £28.8 million by Transfermarkt).
The 29-year-old star has often divided opinion at Stamford Bridge despite the fact the vast majority of fans from outside the club hold him in an extremely high-regard. Willian scored Chelsea’s only goal of the night in the 62nd minute as he placed a thunderous effort into the bottom corner of Ter Stegen’s net after he had struck the woodwork on two separate occasions during the first-half.
His performance was one of, if not the most positive in Chelsea blue, and the Everton supporters were simply in awe of the Brazilian. Perhaps to the surprise of some, a handful of fans even took to Twitter to call for their club to sign him in the future, despite the fact a move to Goodison would undoubtedly represent a step down in class.
