Everton ready to make January move for 41-goal striker

According to ESPN FC, Everton are weighing up a January move for Sporting Lisbon striker Bas Dost, who has scored 41 goals in 53 games in all competitions for the Portuguese side, as they look to finally secure a direct replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

Well, ESPN FC says that Toffees boss Ronald Koeman wants to bring a centre-forward to the club in the New Year with the Merseyside outfit scoring just four goals in their seven Premier League fixtures so far this season, which has left them 16th in the standings.

The Dutchman is under huge pressure with the Toffees also taking just one point from six available in the Europa League, and he is ready to turn to his national compatriot who ESPN FC says has been a long-term target for Koeman.

The report adds that Everton director of football Steve Walsh watched the 28-year-old in action when Sporting were beaten by Barcelona in the Champions League last month.

He has proven to be a brilliant addition after they brought him in from Wolfsburg in 2016.

The Netherlands international has netted 41 goals last season and so far this term, also providing a further seven assists in that time.
