Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has revealed that Jermain Defoe stopped his car to play football with him and his friends when he was 11 years old.
While speaking to the Clare Balding show on BT Sport, Kane said, “I was in school – I think I was in year seven. I was playing football on the street with all my mates and this black Range Rover turned up.
“Jermain Defoe just got out and started playing football with us. I was only 11 or 12 at the time. It was mental.”
The pair would eventually become team-mates at the North London club and Kane admitted that they have spoken to each other about the incident.
Kane has been ruled out of England’s upcoming international matches against Lithuania and Germany through injury. Defoe on the other hand earned himself a recall for the first time since 2013 due to injuries to Kane and Daniel Sturridge.
