MANCHESTER UNITED goalkeeper Joel Pereira has been told he can leave the club on loan.
The 20-year-old was a regular for United’s Under-21 side last season and was also named on the first-team bench for the 5-1 win over FC Midtjylland in the Europa League.
But with David de Gea, Sergio Romero and Sam Johnstone all ahead of Pereira in the pecking order he is set for a temporary switch away from Old Trafford, the Daily Mail report.
The Portuguese keeper has been told that he would benefit from gaining first team experience elsewhere.
Last season Pereira had a brief spell on loan at League One side Rochdale.
He represented Portugal at this summer’s Toulon Tournament and impressed in France, being named the competition’s best goalkeeper.
Jose Mourinho is looking to cut the size of his squad ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline and has already shown the door to a number of United’s youngsters.
This week James Wilson and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson left on loan to Derby and Wolves respectively while Tyler Blackett joined Reading on a permanent deal.
And midfielder Andreas Pereira is poised to complete a loan move to Granada.
