As rumours increase of a potential switch to Juventus for Gonzalo Higuain, Napoli fans took to the streets to protest against the move.
The 28-year-old striker has also been strongly linked with Premier League side Arsenal after his record-breaking 36 goal campaign, but it is a transfer to their Scudetto rivals that would hurt Azzurri followers most.
“Higuain is untouchable,” the fans shouted repeatedly as they marched towards Napoli’s pre-season training ground in Dimaro on Saturday morning, even though ‘El Pipita’ is still enjoying a holiday post-Copa America action.
On Saturday night a delegation of three or four Napoli players will be on hand to answer questions from fans at an official event in Dimaro, and it is expected that much of the questions will centre around the future of their Argentine teammate.
In theory, the South American frontman will be back at Napoli on July 25, but he is reportedly back home in Argentina, following a break in Ibiza, with his brother and agent considering the options open to him.
