Former Monster Energy Cup Series and Xfinity Series Champion, Terry Labonte, announced this week that he would be competing full time in The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series in hopes of challenging for a championship and adding to his his already Hall of Fame worthy resume. Labonte will be piloting the #18 Yacco Toyota for RDV competition throughout the season and already believes the team will offer him a competitive advantage.

“Joining the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series is a great opportunity,” said Bobby Labonte. “At the Brands Hatch race last year, I was definitely impressed by the competitiveness of the series. The testing we did with Fredric Gabillon last fall and putting this together with Franck Violas and the RDV team gives me a great advantage. Having the opportunity to represent Yacco as a sponsor on a global level just adds to the excitement, and I look forward to all the growth and new opportunities this could bring.”

The belief is that Labonte’s involvement with the series this season will give American audiences a closer connection to the series and help elevate the young talent of the series that are hoping to one day make a name for themselves at NASCAR’s highest level. Labonte also has the distinction of being one of only four drivers to win a championship in The Cup and Xfinity Series, which will make him just that much more hard to beat once the Euro Series begins.
