The New York Knicks are having a very difficult season right now and the behind-the-scenes drama brewing with star forward Carmelo Anthony is not making things any easier for the struggling Knickerbockers. There have been rumors going around saying Anthony could be on his way out of New York as his name keeps popping up in trade talks.
In a report posted by Long Island newspaper Newsday, the All Star forward mentioned he would be willing to listen to what the Knicks have to offer if they were looking to trade him. “I have to consider it”, Anthony told the newspaper. It should be noted that Anthony has a no-trade clause in his contract, and has expressed his desire to remain in New York. However, it has become pretty clear that the superstar forward is frustrated with the downward spiral that the franchise is in right now, and they have seemingly reached a crossroad with one another.
If this continues to be the case, then there is good reason to believe that Melo won’t be wearing a Knicks jersey for long. Charley Rosan, a confidant of Knicks team president Phil Jackson, recently wrote an article stating that “Anthony has outlived his usefulness in New York.” Before Rosan wrote the column, Anthony and Phil Jackson had a meeting last Tuesday to clear the air, but from the looks of things, it appears not everything was cleared up.
Yibada reports that the Denver Nuggets may be interested in acquiring power forward Kevin Love from Cleveland. The article states that Nuggets power forward Kenneth Faried is likely to be part of any offer Denver makes for Love. According to ASZ News, the New York Knicks are perhaps the team most interested in Kenneth Faried, so they could become part of a transaction between the Cavaliers and the Nuggets. Kevin Love and LeBron James.
Yardbarker reveals that things are not good between the Cavs and shooting guard Iman Shumpert. Shumpert was arrested for DUI late last summer (which did not endear him to the team), but this piece shares that Cleveland is concerned about Shumpert’s attitude and commitment as well. Due to the rumored worries the Cavs have about Iman Shumpert, his name has been bandied about in the rumor mill as a potential trade chip.
The 26-year-old Rubio has been loosely linked with rumored trades with a number of NBA teams this season. However, the recent revelation that the Pistons might also be willing to trade away their own 26-year-old point guard Reggie Jackson — in light of a recent 9-14 game slide — makes the prospect even more compelling for fans of both teams.
