The Boston Bruins bought out Seidenberg’s contract after the 2015-16 season, making him an unrestricted free agent. His quality performance for Team Europe at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey in Toronto seemed to generate some interest in his services.

Seidenberg will re-unite with former blue line partner Johnny Boychuk in New York. They spent a little more than four seasons together in Boston, from 2010 through 2014.
