Fans of Manchester United should probably start checking Colombian news sources with more regularity…
James appeared to play his last match for Los Blancos last weekend in a 4-1 win over Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The South American was subbed in the second half, which allowed fans and the player to applaud in each other in scenes many thought signalled James’s departure from the club.
Monday kicked off with reports from Colombian radio station RCN, who announced James has an agreement in principle to join Man United in the summer.
According to RCN, Jorge Mendes, the powerful super-agent who also manages Jose Mourinho, met with Madrid president Florentino Perez in the last few days to discuss James, during which point it was revealed that Man United have already agreed a deal in principle to sign the midfielder.
At the same time, Man City and Chelsea have also been linked with James in various media outlets in the past twenty-four hours.
On Monday night, Radio Caracol in Colombia posted a fresh update on the James situation, reporting that the deal with Man United may be announced as early as Sunday.
Sunday is the final day of the La Liga season and, provided Real beat Celta Vigo in midweek, Los Blancos will win the Spanish title with a win at Malaga.
Radio Caracol believe Madrid may confirm the James deal after the La Liga season ends, although AS suggest that Real may be inclined to only announce any deal after the Champions League final finishes.
Either way, James to Man United seems to be on.
